TVS Motor Company is all set to launch a new electric scooter – M1-S. The scooter is already on sale in select global markets under the auspices of Singapore-based technology and automotive startup – ION Mobility. In new markets, it will be offered as the TVS M1-S, with a global debut scheduled for June 4th At the 2025 EICMA show in Milan in November.
As of now, there is no official word on its India launch, and it is highly unlikely that the TVS M1-S electric scooter will arrive here. TVS currently offers three electric scooters in India – iQube, newly launched orbiter And TVS X.
In early 2023, TVS Motor Company became a strategic investor in ION Mobility, helping the startup expand operations in Singapore and Indonesia. The investment increased to approximately US$5.5m over 2024, transforming the collaboration into a strategic partnership focused on engineering collaboration and market access.
The two companies later jointly worked on EV two-wheeler projects for the Southeast Asian markets. However, TVS Motor (Singapore) sold back its stake, and acquired certain “identified assets” from ION Mobility. These assets include technology, intellectual property and key personnel, which have now been integrated into TVS to support its EV expansion in Southeast Asia.
