Harley-Davidson Sprint 440 Crew

Harley Davidson has recently announced a new entry level cruiser motorcycle named Sprint 440 for the global markets. The upcoming motorcycle will use the existing 440cc platform which has been developed with Hero MotoCorp For India. Furthermore, the new bike will focus on classic cruiser styling rather than roadster inspired bodywork. The company has shared a teaser sketch ahead of its official global debut later this year. The motorcycle will also target export markets from India once local production officially begins.
Launch Timeline and Expected Pricing
Harley Davidson will unveil the Sprint 440 globally for the first time before officially launching the motorcycle in the Indian markets. Hero MotoCorp will be manufacturing motorcycles locally from India for both the Indian and foreign markets. Additionally, the motorcycle could target buyers looking for classic Harley styling in the mid-size segment.
The estimated price range across India could be between Rs 2.50 lakh to Rs 2.80 lakh ex-showroom. Therefore, the Sprint 440 can compete with many of the mid-sized cruiser motorcycles currently available in the Indian market.
The design of the Sprint 440 is inspired by Harley cruisers
The teaser sketch reveals styling inspired by Harley Davidson’s large cruiser motorcycles currently sold in international markets. The front of the motorcycle has a circular headlamp, wide handlebar and teardrop shaped fuel tank. Apart from this, the bike gets a step-up seat and flat exhaust setup for cruiser focused ergonomics.
The alloy wheels look similar to the wheels available with Harley Davidson X440 Motorcycle Currently in India. However, the Sprint 440 can use a larger front wheel and smaller rear wheel combination. The report suggests a possible 19-inch front wheel and 16-inch rear wheel setup for a better cruiser stance.
The low rear and scooped rider seat can significantly reduce the overall seat height of the motorcycle. Therefore, smaller riders may find the Sprint 440 handy during city riding and slow-moving traffic conditions.
Engine and Hardware Details Expected
Harley Davidson is expected to use the same 440cc single cylinder air-oil cooled engine in the Sprint 440. This engine currently produces 27 bhp power and 38 Nm torque in the Harley Davidson X440 motorcycle. Furthermore, the motorcycle will likely continue with the 6 speed gearbox available with the existing model.
The main chassis looks similar to the X440 motorcycle from the teaser sketch shared by Harley Davidson. However, the rear subframe and front fork angles may be different for a better cruiser riding posture. The wide front fork angle can provide riders with a more comfortable highway riding experience.
Many hardware parts and electronic features may also come from the currently sold Harley Davidson X440 motorcycle. Therefore, Hero MotoCorp can control production costs during manufacturing operations in India for domestic and export markets.
Features and Technology Package
The Sprint 440 may offer the same technology package that is already available with the Harley Davidson X440 motorcycle. The bike may get a 3.5 inch TFT display with Bluetooth connectivity and smartphone related functions. Additionally, safety equipment may include dual channel ABS, traction control and ride modes.
Cruise control may also become part of the equipment list of the motorcycle in higher variants later. However, Harley Davidson is yet to officially confirm the full feature details for the Sprint 440 motorcycle.
