Ather Energy 6 lakh sales miles
ather energy has crossed a major milestone by selling more than 600,000 electric scooters in India. The company delivered 604,497 units between 2018 and April 22, 2026. Moreover, almost half of these sales occurred in the last 16 months alone. This reflects strong demand growth across all markets. Moreover, new products, better accessibility and pricing options have supported faster adoption among buyers.
Strong growth driven by recent demand
Ather Energy has witnessed rapid growth in recent months with a sharp increase in sales volumes. Additionally, the company sold 300,288 scooters between January 2025 and April 2026. Therefore, 50 percent of the total sales were achieved in a short period. This shows the increasing acceptance of electric scooters in cities and small towns.
In 2026, the company has sold 99,159 units till April 22. Therefore, Ether has 18.50 percent market share this year. This is the highest share achieved by the company so far.

Furthermore, March 2026 became the best month by the company with 36,034 units sold. Hence, Ether crossed 30,000 monthly sales for the first time. Additionally, it has crossed 20,000 monthly sales six times between October 2025 and April 2026.
Rizta Family Scooter Drives Volume
Ather Rizta has become the main driver of sales growth for the company. Currently, it contributes about 70 to 75 percent of the total monthly volumes. Hence, the scooter has helped Ather expand its reach among family buyers.
Launching in 2024, the Rizta offers an IDC range of 159 km per charge. Furthermore, it focuses on comfort with a large seat and useful storage space. Additionally, the starting price of the battery subscription model has been reduced from ₹1.17 lakh to ₹76,000. This has helped more buyers consider scooters.
Industry status and competitive space
Ather Energy is currently the third largest company in India. electric two wheeler market. Moreover, it has contributed strongly to the overall sales of the industry in recent years. The company was eyeing record industry sales of 1.28 million units in FY2025 and over 1.4 million units in FY2026.
However, it faces competition from major brands in the segment. Nevertheless, growing demand and strong product acceptance are helping Ather steadily improve its market share.
New platforms and future plans
Ather has introduced a new EL platform for its upcoming scooters across various segments. This platform supports battery capacities ranging from 2.2 kWh to 5 kWh. Furthermore, it can support both LFP and NMC battery types with different wheel sizes.
Additionally, the company is developing a new Zenith platform for electric motorcycles. These models will target the 125cc to 300cc segment in the future. However, development is still in the early stages.
Manufacturing Expansion Plans
Ather Energy is expanding its production capacity to meet the growing demand in India. Currently, it operates two plants in Hosur with a combined capacity of 420,000 units. However, the third plant is being developed in Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar, Maharashtra.
This new facility will add one million units of annual capacity when fully operational. Therefore, the total capacity will increase to approximately 1.42 million units. The first phase of this plant is expected to begin operation by mid-2026.

Ather Energy continues to grow with strong sales, wide reach and new product plans. Moreover, the demand for its scooters remains high in various markets. With the upcoming models and higher capacity, the company is getting closer to the top competitors.
