Norton Atlas GT Spotted Testin

The test motorcycle appeared to be covered in black, yet several key design elements stood out. The sleek tail section with integrated taillight and turn indicators matches the Atlas GT shown at EICMA. Apart from this, the short and stubby exhaust looks almost identical to the previous display model. The large front fairing and tall windscreen give the bike a strong touring look. Meanwhile, the alloy wheels confirm that this is a road-oriented GT version rather than the off-road-focused standard Atlas.

opposite of regular atlasWhich uses a 19-inch front wheel and cross-spoke setup, the Atlas GT runs 17-inch alloy wheels at both ends. This setup indicates better road handling and comfort for long distance travel. The test mule also featured hand guards and newly added engine crash bars. However, the luggage rack seen on the show bike is missing here, perhaps indicating a change before final production.

Engine, Features and Expected Performance

The Atlas GT will be powered by a newly developed 585cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine with a 270-degree crank. It will be paired with a six-speed gearbox and is expected to deliver around 65 to 70 horsepower. The bike could weigh around 200 kg, which will balance performance and travel comfort well.

Additionally, Norton plans to equip the Atlas GT with modern features. These include an 8-inch TFT screen with connected functions, riding modes, traction control, cruise control and other electronic rider aids. Such features firmly position the bike as premium Adventure tourism section.

Made in India Production and Market Plans

TVS The motor company, which owns Norton, will build the Atlas GT in Hosur, India. This local production will help keep pricing competitive. Additionally, Norton plans to set up over 200 dealership touchpoints across key markets such as India, UK, Europe and the US.

The Atlas GT launch will likely follow the release of Norton’s V4 model. Soon after, other models like the Manx and Manx R will join the lineup. Hence, Norton’s entry into India now seems closer than ever.
