New Ducati DesertX revealed
The new DesertX uses an aluminum monocoque frame where the engine acts as a structural element. This design improves stiffness while helping to reduce overall weight. The bike now weighs around 209 kg, which keeps it competitive in the adventure class.
The motorcycle now gets a fully adjustable USD front fork that offers 230 mm of travel, while the rear monoshock offers 220 mm with a new linkage system. This long-travel setup will help riders tackle rough terrain more confidently. The motorcycle rides on a 21-inch front wheel and 18-inch rear wheel, ideal for serious off-road riding.
Electronics and Features
The new DesertX includes a robust electronics package designed to adapt to different riding conditions. It comes with six riding modes: Sport, Touring, Urban, Wet, Enduro and Rally. The electronics suite also includes cornering ABS, traction control, wheelie control, engine-brake control, cruise control, and a bi-directional quickshifter. All information appears on a new 5-inch TFT display with updated graphics. Additionally, Ducati has rearranged components such as the air filter to make maintenance easier during long expeditions.
Ergonomics and Design
Visually, the new DesertX retains its distinctive rally styling with twin headlamps, tall stance and minimal bodywork. However, small changes in the design make the bike more attractive and modern. The fuel tank has been redesigned to be thinner and lighter, and its weight is now reduced to improve balance. The foot pegs, handlebar and seating position have also been adjusted to improve comfort while standing while off-road riding.
