Hero MotoCorp patents Vida Ube

Hero MotoCorp patents Vida Ube

Vida, the electric arm of Hero MotoCorp, has recently patented the Ubex electric bike design in India. The Ubex was first shown as a concept at EICMA 2025, which attracted attention for its sharp styling. However, newly revealed patent images suggest a more practical and production-focused direction. Therefore, this move signals that Vida is preparing its first electric motorcycle for real-world use. As yet, Vida has only sold electric scooterTherefore Ubex can expand its electric portfolio.

Design patent hints at possible production intentions

A design patent not only protects the style but can also indicate progress toward a final model. Furthermore, the patent version looks different from the concept shown at the global motor show. This version appears to be more suitable for everyday riding and mass manufacturing situations. Therefore, Ubex may soon move from concept status to the near-production stage.

Visible changes from concept model

The bike shown in the patent images does not include some of the adventure-focused parts seen in the concept version. For example, the high front fender, hand guards and rear tire hugger are missing here. However, the overall design still looks modern and sharp from every angle. The projector headlamps with LED DRLs give a clean and aggressive look. Additionally, the tank-shaped body panels help riders grip the bike better using their legs.

chassis and hardware details revealed

One major change is the use of telescopic front forks instead of inverted units. Therefore, it suggests strong focus on cost control and easy maintenance. The bike also has disc brakes and alloy wheels, as seen in the patent images. Additionally, the battery pack looks well integrated within the frame for balanced weight distribution. The riding setup includes mid-set footpegs and a tall handlebar, hinting towards comfort-focused ergonomics.

Expected positioning and launch outlook

Hero has not yet shared details about motor power, battery size or riding range. However, industry expectations suggest a public reveal at the Hero World event in March 2026. Interestingly, this patent surfaced on the heels of another Vida electric bike, the sportier VXZ. Therefore, Vida is actively building a comprehensive electric motorcycle lineup.
